I grew up on a farm in central Nebraska and have lived in the Midwest all my life. In the mid-1980s, I was one of the first students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to earn a degree that combined interests in Home Economics (now called Family and Consumer Sciences) with Journalism.
My husband and I have been married for 30 years and our three children have settled in the Midwest. While raising our family, I published several parenting-related personal essays and served on the editorial staffs of Literary Mama and Our Iowa. In previous chapters of my life, I held positions in both business and nonprofit communities.
My interests, today, remained rooted around family and the home.
Yes, I’m over 50 years old and yes, I created a here’s-what-I’ve-learned list for my kids. It will give you a better picture of who I am than anything I’ve ever written or any image that’s ever been taken of me.
